LASIK, an acronym for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, is a refractive surgery procedure intended for correcting the vision in order to reduce a person's dependency on corrective devices, such as glasses or contact lenses. The procedure is usually a preferred alternative to PRK, or photorefractive keratectomy, as it requires less time for full recovery, and the patient experiences less pain overall. Definition from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LASIK
A type of laser eye procedure used to treat various refractive or focusing errors of the eye. LASIK creates a flap that is opened to expose inner corneal tissue for reshaping, thereby eliminating (or reducing) the corneal refractive error and significantly changing the requirement for corrective eyewear. The procedure is relatively painless with a rapid healing process. Definition from www.health.net/dental_vision/vision/vision_glossary.asp
